DESCRIPTION:Fresh from a couple of weeks in Colorado\, Brad returns with stories\, pictures\, and a Rocky Mountain high. The mountains supplied the scenery\, but their soundtrack kept stealing the show. Mountain streams bubbled over rocks. Wind whistled between the peaks and rustled the aspen leaves. Ravens exchanged deep\, croaking calls as they rode the mountain thermals\, while grasshoppers clicked through the air like tiny windup toys. \nThat living soundtrack revealed another kind of silence\, not empty or mute\, but alive and waiting to be noticed. Our talk this week\, The Sound of Silence\, explores the neglected art of listening. Natural quiet can steady a busy mind\, sharpen our attention\, and remind us that the planet is full of life and has something to say. \nThis timely talk invites us to create space and open our ears and hearts to something larger than ourselves. Nature has been talking the whole time. We’re often just too busy to listen. \nPlease note the Gathering will be held in the Acacia Theater\, and we will not have Talk Back as usual. Instead\, after Small Bites in the lobby\, we will Walk and Talk at Ottawa Sands County Park (18280 N Shore Dr.\, Spring Lake) at noon. You may also bring a chair and/or your lunch!
