What Can I Live Wholeheartedly, in the Age of Anxiety? C3 Teacher Kent Dobson raises that question this week in our series The Great Questions.

John Sanger has become one of our “regulars,” playing for our Gathering every few months. He always expresses how much he appreciates our invitation, and in turn, we appreciate his musical contributions. He is a Grand Rapids-based singer-songwriter whose latest production is The Sanger Family Album.

Week 3@C3 on Vacation in July

We have traditionally taken July off from our Week 3@C3 campaign. Check back later this month as we gear up for August.

Thanks from Every Woman’s Place

Every Woman’s Place sends a hearty thank you for our generous gift of cleaning supplies in June. They were on the verge of running out when Char Zoet delivered the items. The director knew we were collecting for them and held off on any special ordering. We collected approximately 75 (!) items, equally divided among kitchen, bathroom and laundry.

C3 Men’s Group

The C3 Men’s Group meets every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the C3 office at 1447 E. Washington Avenue, Grand Haven. For more information contact Phil Koster at 616-402-1751.

C3 Book Club and Friends

Our next meeting is August 9 at 7:00 p.m., a one-week postponement from the usual first Tuesday meeting, due to the Coast Guard Festival and parking problems. Also, Joyce is leading the discussion, and since the weather tends to be favorable in August, Joyce has offered to host us on her porch (50 Howard Avenue in downtown Grand Haven). Our book is The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. This is the remarkable, little-known story of Belle da Costa Greene, J. P. Morgan’s personal librarian, who became one of the most powerful women in New York, despite the dangerous secret she kept in order to make her dreams come true.

    Resources on Civil Rights

The following links to two short interviews with Bryan Stevenson are an excellent reminder of the struggle for Civil Rights and the essential work he does at the Equal Justice Initiative, the Legacy Museum, and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. These places were stops on the Civil Rights Road Trip taken by several C3 members in April.
