Sunday Gathering: Values-Based AI Literacy

AI can now write our emails, complete complicated multi-step tasks, generate stunning images, and map our commutes. It’s undeniably convenient. But this convenience has a cost. Behind the screen are unseen workers labeling data, artists whose life’s work feeds training systems, and communities bearing the environmental weight of massive data centers.

In our final Empire of Screens talk, Brad puts on his futurist hat and looks ahead to offer some informed predictions about what might come next. While some possibilities are unsettling, others point to a surprisingly hopeful countercurrent: as synthetic content floods our feeds, work with a visible human touch will only become more valuable. We’ll discuss why AI literacy is an essential skill right now, even for those of us who choose not to use it.

We’ll close the series with a practical rule of life—a values-based guide to navigating these powerful tools while protecting our human capacity to question, create, slow down, and care for one another.
